It’s almost two years since I finally left my stressful job in real estate and started my own online coaching business. That move took enormous courage spurred on by desperation, but it is the best thing I ever did for my health – both mental and physical.
The Passion that Smoulders
In my coaching business for those with irritable bowel syndrome, I talk to people every day from all over the world, and a common thread is not just the misery of their bad health, but also their misery in general with their situation. Many hate their meaningless jobs, others enjoy their jobs but are getting burnt out, and a third group don’t work outside the home and are feeling directionless.
They all have a passion that has nothing to do with what they do on a daily basis. A little dream smoulders away inside them, the hope that one day they will do meaningful work that satisfies their soul and helps others. Helping others is key. Making a whole heap of money for the sake of accumulating material possessions is ultimately meaningless and soul destroying.
Where the heck do you start?
However, the place to start to make these secret dreams come true is elusive. Your passion could be knitting, web design, playing guitar, fashion, cooking, Tai Kwon Do. All of these topics are covered by bloggers online, some of them are massive sites, many make a decent income from their activities.
Why can’t you do that too? Of course, you can. What’s stopping you? Only yourself. You will find a million excuses not to take the next step but don’t you dare blame anyone but yourself for not starting on the first step towards your dream life. Don’t blame your job, or your family, or your finances or your health, or your age. They are just excuses.
In my first year coaching online, I made over $60,000 and that included all the set up time, the learning curve and building of the business. It has been upward since then.
You can do this too!
Where is that Hero Inside?
The hero is in there, smothered by self-doubt, drowning in excuses, oppressed and unable to breathe. You have ignored him for so long, it may be difficult to find him among the negativity that dominates and controls your mind. Scramble around among those overwhelming thoughts of helplessness and find that hero. Take hold of him and pull him to the surface. That’s what I had to do when I left my job with no way of making an income in sight. But I had a plan to create four months of freedom to change my life.
